To Those Internet Diver 致網路潛水員

隨著網路的發達，現在學習潛水活動的資訊可以很容易的在網際網路上找到，你可以在Youtube、Facebook、各個潛水中心的網站上找到很多跟潛水相關的文章、照片、影片。很高興這都是一個讓潛水業界向上提升的方法。但很不幸的是，我看到越來越多的人從這些文章、照片、影片中斷章取義的學習潛水。你會覺得自己看了李連杰的所有電影，然後覺得自己就能像他一樣一個打十個嗎？你自己也覺得不可能吧！那為什麼會有很多人告訴我，你光看Youtube你就會像技術潛水員一樣的做到他們的中性浮力和所有動作？或是看了網路上的減壓相關文章、幾張技術潛使用減壓氣瓶的照片就能自由且安全的使用減壓氣體來為自己做所謂的〝快速減壓〞？

As the Internet cover all over the world, now you can easily find all kind of articles, photos, videos about diving on Youtube, Facebook, and dive shops’ website. The easier getting all kind of information about diving, the more popular the diving activity will be, this is a good thing. Unfortunately, I found more and more divers get only parts of information or just speculate the meanings from a photo, a video, and articles, and think this is the way we should do, or we could do. Would you think you can fight like Jet Li after you see all his movies? You don’t think so, right? Then why quite lots of people tell me that you just watch the video on Youtube then you can learn the neutral buoyancy control and all the moves those tech divers can do? Or after reading a decompression related article on net or some tech divers photo with deco tanks, you think you are a deco master and capable to get a deco tank to perform a so call “quick deco” safely? 每一個教練的養成，都是各個教學組織有完整的系統去培養的，從他們在潛水長的實習一直到教練班的養成，他們必須經過與很多不同的潛水員一起上課的過程，在過程中，他會知道學生在潛水過程中會犯什麼樣的錯誤，以及如何去糾正、指導與鼓勵學生們。所以當你看Youtube的那些示範動作時，Youtube會跟著你下水，看著你踢蛙鞋、看著你做中性浮力和水平勢，然後告訴你你哪裏做錯了，要怎麼改進嗎？更何況，你又知道那是正確的動作了？我個人看過很多很糟的示範影片，還有學生把一個他潛水教練教他怎麼踢蛙鞋的示範影片給我看，我一看就發現那是完全就是一個錯誤的示範！而我可以很清楚的告訴學生這樣的蛙踢是如何的降低前進的效率？ Every scuba diving training association has their own system to educate and develop diving instructors, from the internship of a dive master, an instructor candidate need to go diving with lots of students, with this experience, he will know what the mistake diver can make when learning, and how to correct the mistakes with methods and encouragement. So when you see the demo video on Youtube, did you see Youtube dive with you and see what’s wrong with you and can it correct you? Or, do you know the demo video is truly correct? Personally I saw lots of demo videos are not worthy to see because they full of mistakes. But if you take a course with an instructor, I can clearly identify what’s wrong with your frog kick and introduce you the correct way to do it.

曾經我和我同學在Alma Jane(Puerto Galera的一艘給休閒潛水員玩的沉船)裏，和我們的技術潛水學生在做減壓潛水的觀光活動。這時一位教練帶著一位學生潛了下來，兩人都是〝休閒潛水的裝備〞，而學生開始就在甲板上〝跪著〞，綁起導引繩準備進船艙，但這位同學你手上只有導引繩，你的〝燈〞呢？。我同學是合格的IANTD 技術沉船潛水教練，這表示他可以教導潛水員如何安全地進入沉船內探索，而我是合格的IANTD 技術沉船潛水員(我的沉船潛水支數尚無法申請上教練班)。當線軸一綁上起始點時，我們就知道，這個起點的位置及安全性都是是零分，接下來看著一個沒有中性浮力的潛水員(還沒有燈)跌跌蹌蹌地進入沉船把裏面的砂塵全揚起來又得一個零分，我們在貨艙開口看著那個可憐的學生拉一條完全會把自己路封死而且沒有固定點的鬆垮垮的導引繩往前進，而他的教練在他身後，雙手抱胸〝跪在地上〞用那空洞的眼睛看著他的學生正不小心的把他的鬆垮垮導引繩纏到自己的脖子上，但這位教練什麼反應也沒有！我和我同學刀子已經在手上，正從貨艙的開口往下看著那個選錯教練的潛水員！幸運的是，他活著解除了這個問題，成功的爬過船艙，到了另一頭，完成了這堂課(我猜算是完成了！)。上來之後，我同學決定要去印塑膠的名片帶在身上潛水，下次遇到這種倒霉的學生，應該馬上在水中發名片才對！ I and my friend was in Alma Jane (a purposed sunk wreck in Puerto Galera), we did some deco diving for fun with our tech diving students. During the dive, one instructor came with a students, both of them came with “recreational diving gear configuration”. And the student “kneed on the deck”, and start to lay the line to get into the wreck, but don’t you think going into wreck just need a guide line? Where is your “Dive Torch”? My friend is a certified IANTD technical wreck diver instructor, and I am a certified IANTD technical wreck diver (I don’t have enough log dives of wreck penetration to apply for tech wreck instructor course.) When he start to lay the line, we saw the start point is not safe and also not in correct place. Then the students started to crawl into the wreck without any neutral buoyancy control and any dive torch. With all the silt came up, and the poor students kept crawling through the wreck with a loose line without any fix points, we saw his instructor also “ knee down” on the deck with arms cross and looking at his students now circle the loosing line on his neck, but the instructor did “nothing”. I and my friend all reached to our knife and looking at the poor student from the hatch, luckily, he got loose by himself quickly and successfully crawling through the wreck, finished his course, I guessed!! After the dive my friend decide to print a plastic name card so that next time we met some unlucky diver like today, we can send to them in water.

我在任何組織沒有查到可以用這樣的裝備帶學生進沉船綁導引繩，所以我推斷這位教練看著一些技術潛水員的照片和影片，甚至可能與PG當地技術潛水員的聊天，推斷他可以這樣幫他的學生上專長課程，而學生還會以崇拜的眼神看著他覺得教練惠我良多！但其實這對他的學生是多麼危險的事？而反觀現今網路上，不是有很多人是以這樣的身份在講裝備、減壓、潛水技巧，而這些說得一口好潛水的〝大大們〞是不是真的和國內外真的做過這些潛水的潛水教練和潛水員們潛過水，或學習過什麼課程或得到什麼認証？在我開始學習技術潛水時，我的很多問題都是〝喔！網路上說…〞在我第三次這樣開口時，我教練叫我Internet Diver，他說〝網路潛水員〞只潛Internet，他們不下水，但會用口水淹死你。他叫我閉嘴、技術潛水員要做的是去潛水，去感受浮力、去一直改進自己、去好好思考所有事情的真實答案，而教練我會陪你下去看著你直到有一天你和我有一樣的能力。

I checked no training agency can let students with recreational gear configuration and tie a guide line to enter the wreck, so I can only think this instructor saw some tech wreck diver’s photo and videos, even maybe talks to some tech divers in Puerto Galera, then figure out he might teach his students the wreck diver specialty like this, and expect his students can feed back him with great appreciation. But in the point of view from a true tech wreck diver and instructor, did the students know all he learn can kill him many times in a true wreck? So when you in a dive forum, there’re lots of divers or instructors talking about gears, deco methods, and dive skills seems make sense, but did they truly certified by instructors, or had tons of dive experience behind this talking? When I started learn tech diving, before all I can know is from internet, so I always start my questions with “on the internet, they said….” My instructor stopped me when I start the question and ask me to shut up. He said, “Those Internet Divers don’t dive, they just want to drown you with words, but they don’t go diving, they only dive internet. Go Diving, Go to feel what it like in water, Go to control your buoyancy by feel every moves you do, I will be next to you to correct every mistakes until I think you are truly OK.”

我很幸運我有很多位很好的教練，他們不只在潛水、事業和私人生活上都是我的良師益友，每次回到店裏和他們潛水他們都會教我新的技巧及新的思維，因為他們每年會增加超過400支以上的技術潛水支數，這才是真的經驗！所以我奉勸各位潛水員，多潛水，網路文章、影片、相片看看就好，重要的是你要自己想想這到底是真的還是假的，到底有哪裏是有問題的。但如何去分辨這些資訊是正確或錯誤的，還有如果你真的覺的你想學到網路裏看到的技巧和知識，問問你教練、或是真正合格且可以授課的教練他們的建議！好的教練，會解釋你的動作、裝備構造、潛水減壓為什麼是錯誤的，而不會只是說〝照著這樣故就對了啦！〞。也許你覺得教練的課程好貴，我看網路就可以把錢省下來，但你是真正學到人家的精髓，還是只是表面上的花拳繡腿，別到時花更多錢在錯誤的裝備、練習以及你的小命上！

I am lucky that I have lots of instructors and good tech dive friends. They are not only my good teacher and friends in diving, business and life, every time I return, there’s always new method and new information I can learn from them because most of them log over 400 tech dives a year, that’s true experience. On the internet, the video, articles and photos are good to read and enjoy them, but how can you find out they are true or wrong, you need to learn more. To gain the true knowledge, you need to go diving, experience it and find a good instructor to tell you what’s wrong, and what’s right. A good instructor can always explain you why this is wrong, and never tell you just do what I do. Maybe you think the course is expensive, if I learn from internet I can save the money, but are you really learn the knowledge indeed or just skin deep?
